Rochester: Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 10, 2017 at age 92. "Charlie" was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania March 9, 1925, the second of five children of Arthur and Mary (Mannion) McQueen. He was predeceased by Joseph, Gerald, Hugh and Rosemary. As a young man he moved to Rochester, NY with his wife, Jean (Hazen) McQueen where they raised their family. He is survived by five children: Barbara (Roger Behrens), Joseph (Sue) McQueen, Patrick, Anne Marie (Gary Bestor) and John McQueen along with nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jean; daughter, Linda Marie McQueen and second wife, Alice.
Charlie worked for many years at Ness Inc. and later at Strong Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed nearly twenty years of Florida living where he took up golf, tennis, woodworking and painting. He was an active community leader and a lifelong blood donor. He loved music and sang in several Barber Shop Quartets.
His later years were spent at River Edge Manor. He enjoyed greeting people as they came to work and visited. Charlie was known as a true gentleman, always ready to lend a helping hand. He had many friends and was particularly fond of Keri, Bonnie, Carmen, Sharon, Mimi, Judy, and Carl. The family is very grateful for their kindness.
