Allyn, Alfred W. (Papa)

Churchville: Al passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 28, 2017 with his devoted wife Elsie (Bohlayer) & daughter Linda (Patrick) Allyn-Welborn at his side at age 92. He is also survived by his brother Raymond (Jean) Allyn, daughter Donna Antonellis; loving grandchildren Gia (Mark) Burton, Cari (Dan) Lehman, Tony Antonellis, Chelsea Welborn & Trevor Welborn; great-grandchildren Charlotte, J.R. & Vivian; sisters-in-law Janet (Mason) Allyn, Rosemary (Ron) Cohick; nieces; nephews; several devoted caregivers & friends. Al was predeceased by his brothers Ralph, John & Charlie.

He worked alongside his father as a puzzle-maker at Great Lakes Press until their closing, then worked at Mixing Equipment Company until his retirement in 1985. Like his father before him, he was a member of Etolian/Unity Lodge #479 F&AM. During his early life in Gates, he was a proud Boy Scout & member & deacon at Gates Presbyterian Church, joining Ogden Presbyterian Church in 1963. Al & Elsie built their home in Churchville in 1954. Always at each other’s side, they were married for 67 years. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to his home caregivers & the special staff at The Friendly Home for providing Al with exceptional care these last years.
