John “Jack” Beattie Obituary

Jack, a Renaissance man was raised on a family farm in Chili, now encompassed within Black Creek Park, is survived by his devoted wife of nearly three decades, Linda. Their love story blossomed after a single encounter and a transformative three-week journey to China, culminating in their marriage in 1994. Survived by his stepchildren Ryan (Amanda) Knapp and Martin (Jenny) Knapp; grandchildren Emily, Robby, Priscilla, Riley, and Mason; sister Marsha Beattie; niece Kelly and nephew Mike; sister-in-law Debbi Millard, and extended family and many friends.

Jack was a man of many talents and areas of knowledge.  He was a devoted “Car Guy” who worked on his cars and especially loved his 1965, 1977, and 2008 Corvettes.  He also cherished the memories of his ’67 Camaro, ’69 Chevelle and ’80 Firebird and the ’56 Chevy he modified and raced at Empire Dragway in NY. Beyond his automotive passion, Jack took great pride in his collection of Lionel model trains, meticulously designing intricate displays that he delighted in showcasing to all who visited, particularly his cherished grandchildren.

After constructing a model lobster boat while living in Boston with Linda, he recently embarked on crafting a stunning replica of a 1954 Chris-Craft Commander remote-controlled scale boat, which will be completed by his heirs.

Jack enjoyed time with his cousins at their cottage in the Thousand Islands and played rhythm guitar with friends in a local Caledonia band.  He and Linda shared a passion for traveling across the USA, visiting and staying at 21 National Parks, camping and kayaking in Adirondack Parks.
